Architectural Design Services
Are you looking to build a new home, remodel an existing home, or create an outdoor oasis? Our design team is ready to lead you through developing your project into plans prepared for construction. Our design strategy looks like this:
- We seek to understand the concept thoroughly.
- We locate the project site to determine the site-specific development rules.
- We develop a property base map to include the survey boundaries, setbacks, LiDAR elevation contours, and a current site aerial photo.
- For remodeling projects, we conduct an as-built survey of the home or project area using a Leica BLK360 LiDAR scanner.
- We create the preliminary blueprints and provide a 3D video walkthrough of the project at the actual location.
- Finally, we will finalize the plans and provide the final 3D walkthrough.
- Offer support after the design phase is completed.
Our Philosophy
Each project deserves total focus and deserves our best. At a core level, we focus on precision, clarity, and aesthetic appeal to produce concise plans and pleasing presentations. Our philosophy is that high-quality, accurate blueprints and 3d renderings communicate project scopes clearly to the owner and builder.
First, it is of utmost importance to understand the client's vision. Good conversation and communication are key to understanding a client's vision. Through the lens of their vision, we strive to create high-quality project plans and photo-realistic 3D renderings to allow the client's vision to be seen before it is built.
During the design phase, it is always important to consider furniture orientation and the overall flow and feel of the space. The design elements should remain consistent throughout. We follow the typical design criteria with minimum spacing between objects but always visualize our designs in 3D as we create them.
We consider the overall flow of the design, the sun angle interactions, site drainage, and privacy.
We rely on technical mapping, laser measurements, and 3D visualizations to provide precision and accuracy.

Our Team
Lead Architectural Designer
Doug Knell, Architectural Designer & Technical Site Analyst
Doug's design expertise has been shaped through years of experience in various construction-related fields. A University of Colorado graduate with a focus on environmental science led to working as a land development planner and environmental consultant at Westward Environmental in Boerne, TX. For 12 years, his main role was assisting the construction materials industry operators with regulatory consulting and mine plans based on geologic exploration planned and executed with the Westward geologists. He also worked with the civil engineering team with grading plans for drainage-related projects using his technical mapping skills and multiple software packages.
Moving on from Westward, he started a successful residential and commercial repair business for six years until 2020, a franchise called Handyman Matters. He then sold what is now operating as Ace Handyman Services. After 2020, Doug worked as the lead designer and construction manager for exterior-based residential projects that focused on outdoor spaces and home additions with TWT Exteriors & Roofing.
Using his technical mapping and construction background, he then began working as a full-time Architectural Designer focusing on style and precision in 2021. Since then, he has completed hundreds of residential projects, including new home designs, full and partial remodels, backyard space enhancements, and pool designs for Coastal Breeze Pools.
