Each set of project plans includes a plot plan. We use our technical mapping expertise to overlay your survey and build setbacks onto a current aerial photo. We then import very accurate elevation data for the project site. LiDAR elevation data is obtained from TNRIS, an accessible data repository for Texas. When comparing the accuracy of LiDAR elevation data to survey-grade GPS measurements, we find that the LiDAR is within an inch of the vertical accuracy of the GPS unit measurements.
The advantage of LiDAR is that the laser points can penetrate through tree canopy, a considerable advantage over GPS systems. Plus, there are millions of points in the project area. This information lets us determine the best place to locate your house and the drainage flow across the property.
LiDAR Elevation Contours - Drainage Flow
Knowing how the water flows across your property is always a good thing. We can help determine strategies to keep ponding from happening on your project site or where to locate culverts under your entry road, for example.
Utilizing LiDAR elevation data, we can see through trees to locate your building in the best spot to minimize cut and fill on your site and reshape the terrain where necessary to create smooth entry roads ready to be staked by a surveyor.
